DOUBLE FEATURE

We are now taking submissions for Heller Double Feature 2026! Double Feature will be presented at the Lynn Riggs theater at the Oklahoman Center for Equality March 12-15, 2026. Submissions close December 31st 2025.

Guidelines:

  • We are looking for one act scripts, ideally 40-80 minutes in length

  • Scripts should be emailed to hellertheatre@gmail.com, with two documents - a title page with the playwright’s name and contact info, and the full script without any identifying info, so that scripts may be judged blindly by the reading committee. The word “SUBMISSION” should appear in the subject line

  • Scripts may not have been produced previously, aside from staged readings/workshops

  • We do not accept scripts written wholly or in part by generative AI

SUBMIT YOUR SCRIPT

Fostering and encouraging local playwrights is deep in Heller Theatre Company's DNA. In the 2019-20 Season alone, we produced more than 50 original works of all lengths by local writers. You can get in on the action by submitting your works for consideration.

Heller is a local theatre company that focuses on serving the greater Oklahoma area. Playwrights must currently reside within Oklahoma or a bordering state (OK, AR, TX, NM, CO, KS, or MO.)

Second Sunday Serials

In Second Sunday Serials, playwrights tell a story one month at a time. Each month, 5 short plays are performed; the Top 3 (as voted by the audience) advance to the next month, where the audience will see what happens next in each story alongside 2 new serials. All playwrights whose scripts are read receive a royalty for each month and continuing playwrights must submit the next installment by the first Sunday of each month until the story is wrapped up or they are no longer voted forward.

Scripts must run no longer than 10 minutes (8 pages in standard Dramatist Guild format); longer scripts will not be considered. Scripts should tell a contained story with a clear story arc (beginning, middle, and end) and contribute to a larger narrative. Scripts should rely on compelling, three-dimensional characters and engaging dialogue to tell the story. Scripts should contain minimal stage directions.

Submissions can be made at any time to secsunsersub@gmail.com and join us on the Second Sunday of every month (September through May) at 7:00PM at Studio 308 (308 S. Lansing Ave.) to watch the shows and cast your vote!
