Double Feature 2020:
Two Plays Walk Into a Bar

April 17, 18, 24, 25 at 7:30PM
April 26 at 2:00PM
Nightingale Theater, 1416 E. 4th St.

For the third year in a row, Heller Theatre Company presents an evening of one-act plays by local playwrights: Double Feature! 2020. This year, under the subtitle “Two Plays Walk Into a Bar” we are pairing two world-premiere one-acts that both take place in bars:

“Intoxication” by Shadia Dahlal; directed by Angela McLaughlin
“Intoxication” is a love story between a woman and alcohol, exploring relationships, addiction, and marketing to expose the truth about female alcoholism. This sensitive drama will be directed by the incomparable Angela McLaughlin (The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Circle Mirror Transformation).

”Jack Dicky and the Swarthy Gentleman” by Quinn Blakely; directed by Jarrod Kopp
“Jack Dicky” is one of the most successful plays developed during our Second Sunday Serials, having been voted forward every single month during the first season (2017-18); this side-splitting detective comedy with vaudevillian roots takes you for a ride-along on the madcap adventures of a hard-boiled private eye named Jack Dicky. Conspiracies, pratfalls, and wordplay await! Jarrod Kopp (The 39 Steps) directs.

Tickets will go on sale in March 2020.

Playwrights’ Lab of Tulsa (PLOT)

first and third sundays of the month, 4-6PM
ST. Paul’s United MEthodist Church, 1442 S. Quaker Ave.

Playwrights' Lab of Tulsa (PLOT) is an exciting ongoing conversation about the art, craft, and creation of new work. The heart of PLOT is a focus on process rather than product--everyone will be able to try writing and be supported in their efforts. Attendees will develop scenes, sketches and plays through an ongoing workshop where everyone will be encouraged to experiment with theatre concepts without restrictions or deadlines. The focus will be on writing for the live stage, rather than scripts as on-the-page literature. Actors, directors, designers, stage managers and technical theatre artists will try writing, as well as sharing insight through their experiences. Come play! Participation is free.
