For the first production of our 2019-20 Season, Heller Theatre Company (HTC) proudly presents a collection of short plays, old and new, for the tenth annual Heller Shorts festival.
In our sixth season as an independent, non-profit theatre company (and our third season of all original works), we are reflecting on our legacy as one of Tulsa’s premiere theatre companies. Following this theme, our tenth annual Heller Shorts festival will feature five brand new, world-premiere short plays alongside five of the favorites from the past decade of Shorts.
The original scripts and the returning favorites were read and voted on by a panel of judges who did not know the playwright’s identity. Three of the five new plays are from playwrights whose work has never been featured in Heller Shorts before.
After selling out in recent years, Shorts is getting a little longer this year, with an extended run that will include a Sunday evening performance at 7:30PM in addition to the traditional Sunday matinee. This year will once again feature our annual fundraiser: the traditional “Stuff Our Shorts” contest, where audience members use money to vote on their favorite play.
Performances will be held August 22, 23, 24 & 25 at 7:30 PM and August 25 at 2:00 PM in the Lynn Riggs Theatre at Dennis R. Neill Equality Center, 621 E. 4th St. Tickets will go on sale August 1. A gala celebrating A Decade of Shorts will be held on Aug. 24, immediately following the performance; tickets for the gala are $10 and include hors d'oeuvres and one raffle ticket.
Plays may contain mature content and adult language. This production is made possible through the generosity of the George Kaiser Family Foundation.
